I'm just curious if anyone's asked XS about what a custom turbo setup would cost? I've always wondered if it was better to get a turbo built by people who know them really well or instead, go with one of the kits.

Let me know what you guys think.

Prefab'd kits are easy that is why many people buy them. You don't have to measure anything, and usually don't have to make any mods to the kit, it just bolts on. A custom kit is probably better because you can pick the very best parts and make your kit whereas in many of the prefab kits, some of the pieces are top knotch, while other parts are very low quality. You also run into the problem of finding someone to make you a kit that knows what they are doing, etc...but custom is usually the best way to go, but definitely not the easiest! IMHO

I got almost all my parts from XS and they are great. My boss's race car has a custom built straight T4 built by XS and it cost him around $1,600. That's for a turbo capable of around 700 HP. I have a custom T3/T4 with a new impellars on the compressor side for around $750. These are our prices, for the public it might be more.

The advantages with going with a custom kit is you get all the parts YOU want instead of what comes with the kit. You can get all the best parts for however much you want to spend.
